The project of the Red Crescent Society of Tajikistan (RCST), “Institutional Capacity Building and Community Awareness Raising on Disaster Preparedness in Tajikistan”, financed by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), will be implemented from June 28 to December 15, 2022. From August 8 to November 16, 2022, one-day educational trainings for the population on reducing the risk of natural disasters and providing first aid should be held in 5 cities and districts under the center, such as Vahdat, Rudaki, Varzob, Hisor and Shahrinav. It should be noted that each local group consists of 20 people. In addition, five Local Disaster Management Committees consisting of 20 people will be formed in each city and district. After the formation of the local committee, a simulation exercise will be held in each district with the direct involvement of the Emergency Situations and Civil Defense Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Fire Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the First Aid Service, sanitary services and volunteers of the RCST branch with the participation of the general population.
Up to date, starting from August 8 to August 20, 2022, ten one-day seminars have been held in 10 target villages of Vahdat city. A total of 200 residents of the following villages of Vahdat city, such as Kholmurodi, Chuyangaron, Kamongaron, Romit, Lower Poyonabi, Armughan, Vahdatobod, Sarychashma, Navobod and Chutkaisha, gained the most basic knowledge related to reducing the risk of natural disasters.
According to the work plan of the project, from August 24 to September 3, 2022 one-day seminars is going on in the target villages of Rudaki district, such as Kiblai, Kamchin, Hayronak, Iqbal, Tojikobod, Gulobod, Beshkappa, Ishqobod, Turdiev and Kosibon. Until September 9, 2022, a practical exercise will be held in one of the target villages of the district.
