On April 24-25, 2024, in the Central Committee of the Red Crescent Society of Tajikistan (RCST) was conducted a two-day workshop within the framework of the project “Building disaster and climate change resilience of children and youth in Tajikistan through enhanced child-centered DRR and school safety” funded by the United States Agency for International Development’s Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance”.
The event was opened by Dilorom Mirova, Deputy Secretary General of the RCST and Jamshed Hasanov, a UNICEF emergency specialist.
Then, according to the agenda of the workshop during a two-day seminar made several presentation on the activities of UNICEF in Tajikistan, on the International Movement of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, RCST activities, the presentation of the work plan of the project and the RCST’s experience related to activities in schools of Tajikistan, drawing up a map risk zones and injury prevention, school children’s behavior during emergency situations, adaptation to climate change, the importance and manner of conducting practical exercises in schools, gender in emergency situations, psychological support for children during natural disasters, water and sanitation issues for educational institutions according to the UNICEF manual, the basic principles of first aid. All presentations and practical exercises were conducted by responsible specialists of RCST and UNICEF.
