CONSULTATIVE MEETING OF “EARLY WARNING FOR ALL” INITIATIVE

On May 31, 2024, a consultative meeting of Early Warning for All (EW4ALL) initiative was conducted in the Rumi hotel, Dushanbe. The session was organized by Committee of Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan (CoES) in partnership with the Red Crescent Society of Tajikistan (RCST) and support of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). This meeting gathered stakeholders for the implementation of the EW4ALL initiative from state agencies (line ministries), international organizations, NGOs, and private sector.

The main aim of the meeting was finalizing Pillar 1 (Disaster Risk Knowledge) and Pillar 4 (Preparedness and Response) implementation Roadmap of the EW4ALL initiative. It is aimed that by effectively planning implementation activities the possibility of protecting more people from disasters will grow though making the early warnings in Tajikistan a reality.

The “Early Warning for All” initiative was announced in 2022 by the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres to call for global action to protect every individual on the planet with early warning by 2027. In March 2023, Tajikistan was included into group of 30 primary countries to receive coordinated assistance within the framework of this initiative. Within this initiative, international partners provide assistance to the country and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan enhances its capacity to implement effective early warning services from four pillars of Multi-Hazard Early Warning System (MHEWS). Every pillar has leading agencies from national authorities and partner organizations. The leading agency of pillar four, preparedness and response, is CoES with the support of RCST and IFRC. Leading agencies of each pillar complete implementation activities Roadmap of the initiative and suggests it to the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan for approval and support. On December 29, 2023, CoES with the support of RCST and IFRC conducted a consultative session for the first revision of implementation Roadmap of the Pillar 4.
