DREF LESSON LEARNED WORKSHOP IN GISSAR CITY

On August 26-27, a workshop was held in Hisor city to discuss the lessons learned from the implementation of the “Disaster Relief Emergency Fund” (DREF) MDRTJ035 project. The workshop was attended by the leadership and representatives of the Red Crescent Society of Tajikistan (RCST), the RCST branch in the Sughd region, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC), the Committee of Emergency Situations (CoES) and its department in the Sughd region, representatives of the Langar jamoat of Kuhiston Mastchoh district, banks, and others.

At the event, information was given regarding the implementation of this short-term project, the immediate response of the staff and volunteers of the RCST to the natural disaster (earthquake) that occurred at the end of March in Kuhiston Mastchoh district, and the humanitarian aid provided by the RCST to the affected families. Furthermore, the representative of CoES discussed the role of RCST and the joint activities carried out. Subsequently, Fadil Yusri Aksa, the representative of IFRC, talked about the support provided by the IFRC to national Societies in times of natural disasters during natural disasters.

During the two-day workshop, various topics were covered, including the “Summary report on the implementation of the project “Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF)” planned activities and objectives.” Additionally, the workshop included discussions on the results of post-distribution monitoring, briefings on community involvement and accountability (CEA), protection, gender and inclusion (PGI). The responsible individuals provided information on the activities of the RCST, challenges faced, assessment methods, cooperation with stakeholders and beneficiaries, beneficiary selection, registration and distribution of humanitarian assistance to affected households, as well as reports, lessons learned, information exchange, coordination within the Movement, and cooperation with interested parties and government structures.
