On December 27-28, 2022, at the Republican Educational Center of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense(CoES) in Dushanbe city, by initiative of the Red Crescent Society of Tajikistan (RCST) and by support of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) there was conducted two day workshop on “International Humanitarian Law”. 30 military servicemen including heads of departments of protection of the population and territories of the CoES in GBAO, Sughd, Khatlon regions, Dushanbe, head of the CoES department in Rasht district and heads of departments of the cities and districts of Rudaki, Vahdat, Hisor, Shahrinav, Tursunzoda, Varzob, Aini, Isfara, B. Gafurov and RCST DM staff participated in the workshop.
The workshop was opened by the Head of the Department of Population and Territorial Protection of the CoES major-general Kamolzoda J.
In this workshop the experts of the Directorate of Population and Territorial Protection of the CoES spoke on the following topics: Organization and implementation of measures to protect the population and territory from natural disaster and man-made disaster, about the structure and procedure of the unified state system of the Republic of Tajikistan for the prevention and elimination of disaster, laws and policies related to climate change using advanced methods in Tajikistan, humanitarian impact of climate change in Tajikistan, the humanitarian impact of climate change in Tajikistan, Legislation of the Republic of Tajikistan in the direction of preparation and response to emergency situations (analysis), the law on emergency situations in Tajikistan, the law of the Republic of Tajikistan on the protection of the population and the territory from natural disaster and technogenic.
A representative of the National Legislative Center under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan spoke about the Protection of the Population and Territory International Law, procedure for making changes and additions to the law. The officers of the Committee actively participated in the discussions and received specific answers to the questions.
Mr. Sangov Sh, Head of DM Department, Red Crescent Society of Tajikistan spoke about the cooperation of the RCST with the CoES, law of the Republic of Tajikistan about the Red Crescent Society of Tajikistan, international disaster and climate risk management, RCST climate change activities and supporting role.
